How long does cabinet refacing take?
Once an order is placed, it is usually 3-4 week lead time to receive all the custom made components. The installation process generally takes about 7 days depending on the size of the kitchen. During that time the kitchen is completely usable.
Can I add or change cabinets?
Yes, after 17 years designing and building custom furniture and cabinetry, adding or changing cabinets is a common option of the refacing process. In fact, we welcome the opportunity.
Can drawer boxes be replaced as well?
Yes. If you’d like, we can replace the existing drawer boxes with hardwood, dovetailed-corner drawer boxes on full-extension, soft close drawer glides.
Do I have to empty my cabinets before refacing?
No, you do not. The refacing process allows the cabinet boxes to stay in place along with all the items you keep in them. However, it can be speed the process up to remove items from cabinets.
Do you paint of refinish cabinets?
No, we don’t. While there are many reasons we do not feel like this adds to the value of cabinetry, the most simple answer is that the time, effort and expense to strip and refinish the cabinets doesn’t justify the relatively minor improvement. Also, we’ve found that repainted cabinets don’t hold up real well.
Who does the actual work?
I do. I do not hire subcontractors. I will handle everything from the initial meeting to discuss design options, measuring for new components, ordering, and installation.
Are my cabinets worth refacing?
In many cases the cabinet boxes in a kitchen are in excellent shape, and made of quality plywood. As long as the boxes and frames are still in good shape they will be great for refacing. Most refacing jobs are to update the look of the cabinets, and we can certainly evaluate your cabinets as candidates for refacing.
Do you install countertops?
Yes, we can custom fabricate new countertops and use epoxy resin to create beautiful, one of a kind faux-stone surfaces that are an excellent low cost alternative for countertops, backsplashes, and shower walls.
From an investment point of view, how does refacing compare to new cabinets?
Research has shown that Cabinet refacing has an average return on investment of 102% versus just 78% for traditional replacement of cabinets.
Do you do free estimates?
Yes. At that time I will bring out door samples in different finishes, trim work options, and color samples. I will also evaluate your cabinets and go over pricing and options with you. This usually takes about an hour.
